Urban Maestro is conducting a European-wide survey of the informal tools used in the governance of urban design. This is the first step towards the project’s objective of mapping out the ‘urban design governance landscapes’ of European states, and ultimately the continent as a whole.
The Survey was sent out to three types of organisations in each country (28 EU + 4 EFTA). First to national and regional governmental departments responsible for architecture and urban design matters; second, to local governments and city architects; and third, to non-governmental bodies such as professional associations, architecture centres and so forth.
So far 58 replies have been received, which represents roughly a 46% response rate; with 26 replies from national-level governmental departments, 6 from the local level and 26 from non-governmental organisations. We are working to expand the survey responses further, so please get in touch if you can help fill any gaps.
